Account Settings

Manage your Manaia account, security settings, household members, and privacy preferences from the Settings page in your dashboard.

Changing Your Password

1. Go to Settings > Account > Change Password

2. Enter your current password

3. Enter your new password (minimum 12 characters)

4. Confirm the new password

5. Tap Save

If you've forgotten your password, use the Forgot Password link on the login page at auth.manaia.io. A reset link will be sent to your email.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

MFA adds an extra layer of security to your account. We strongly recommend enabling it, especially if you're the household owner.

Setting Up Passkeys (Recommended)

Passkeys are the most secure and convenient MFA method. They use your device's biometrics (Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint) or a hardware security key.

1. Go to Settings > Security > Passkeys

2. Tap Add Passkey

3. Follow your device's prompt to register the passkey

4. Give the passkey a name (e.g. "iPhone" or "MacBook")

You can register multiple passkeys across different devices. When signing in, your browser will offer to use your passkey automatically.

Setting Up Email OTP

1. Go to Settings > Security > Email OTP

2. Toggle it on

3. A verification code will be sent to your email to confirm

After setup, you'll receive a 6-digit code via email each time you sign in from a new device.

Recovery Codes

Recovery codes are one-time backup codes you can use if you lose access to your MFA method:

1. Go to Settings > Security > Recovery Codes

2. Tap Generate Recovery Codes

3. Save these codes somewhere safe — they're shown only once

4. Each code can be used once

We recommend printing them or storing them in a password manager.

Household Members & Roles

As the household owner, you can invite other adults to help manage your Manaia household.

Roles

| Role | Description |

|------|-------------|

| Owner | Full access to all settings, billing, and member management. One per household. |

| Admin | Can manage profiles, devices, and view reports. Cannot change billing or remove the owner. |

| Guardian | Scoped access to specific profiles they're assigned to. Can view reports and adjust rules for their assigned profiles only. |

| Member | Basic access. Can view their own profile and request changes. |

| Child | Restricted access. Can view their own activity and submit access requests. |

Inviting Members

1. Go to Settings > Household > Members

2. Tap Invite Member

3. Choose the invitation method:

- Email invite — enter the person's email address. They'll receive a link to accept the invitation.

- QR invite — generate a QR code that anyone can scan to accept the invitation (useful for in-person setup).

4. Select the role for the new member

5. The invitation is valid for 7 days

Managing Members

From the Members page, you can:

  • Change a member's role (owner and admin only)
  • Remove a member from the household
  • Revoke pending invitations that haven't been accepted yet
  • Resend invitations (email invites only, 4-hour cooldown)
  • Notification Preferences

    Control how and when Manaia contacts you:

    Email Notifications

  • Daily report — morning summary of yesterday's activity
  • Weekly summary — broader weekly trends and insights
  • Threat alerts — immediate notification for high-severity threats
  • Access requests — when a child requests access to a blocked site
  • Push Notifications

    Available through the Manaia app on iOS.

    Adjusting Preferences

    1. Go to Settings > Notifications

    2. Toggle each notification type on or off

    3. For email notifications, you can also unsubscribe via the link in any email

    Data Export

    Export all your Manaia data at any time:

    1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Export My Data

    2. Tap Request Export

    3. We'll prepare your data and email you a download link

    4. The export includes: account data, profiles, device list, query logs, threat detections, and reports

    5. Data is provided in JSON format, encrypted with your account's KMS key

    6. The download link expires after 7 days

    Account Deletion

    To permanently delete your Manaia account:

    1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Delete My Account

    2. Read the warning about what will be deleted

    3. Confirm by entering your password

    4. A 30-day grace period begins

    During the grace period:

  • Your account is deactivated (you can't sign in)
  • Protection continues for your household if other members exist
  • You can cancel the deletion by contacting support@manaia.io
  • After 30 days, all data is permanently and irreversibly deleted from all systems.

    Transferring Ownership

    If you need to transfer household ownership to another member:

    1. Make sure the new owner is already a member of your household with an Admin role

    2. Contact support@manaia.io with both email addresses

    3. Our team will process the transfer securely
