The internet's wild.
Your house doesn't have to be.

Protection for the devices on your home network. No hardware, no router settings, nothing to plug in — it's an app. Set it up on a Sunday arvo, forget about it.

01 / The Problem

Everyone's connected.
Not everyone's protected.

You're not a cybersecurity expert. You're a parent, or a son, or a daughter — and you just want the internet in your house to not be a liability. Grandma clicks a link that looks exactly like her bank. Your kid finds something they shouldn't. The neighbour's smart fridge starts talking to a server in Belarus.

02 / How It Works

Three steps. Two minutes. Done.

You don't need to configure anything technical. Download. Set up. Forget about it.

/ 01 · PROTECTION

Threat blocking that actually works.

Phishing, scam sites, malware — caught at the DNS layer before they ever load.

/ 02 · CONTROLS

Per-person rules. Per-device.

Your kid gets a different internet than your nan. Both are protected.

/ 03 · INSIGHT

See what got blocked. And why.

Plain-English reports. No security jargon. No anxiety.

03 / The free options

“Can't I just use
the free one?”

Often, yes — and we'd rather say so than pretend otherwise. Here's what each of them actually does, and the point at which it stops.

/ FREE

Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 for Families

Good at: Blocking malware and adult sites at the DNS layer, for nothing, on any network you can change the DNS on. Genuinely fast and genuinely free.

Stops at: One setting for the whole house. No profiles, so your teenager and your nan get the same internet. Nothing tells you what was blocked or why.

/ FREE

Apple Screen Time

Good at: Time limits, app limits and downtime on Apple devices, already on the phone, no extra cost.

Stops at: Apple only — the Android tablet, the smart TV and the console are invisible to it. It manages time, not threats: it won’t stop a phishing site loading.

/ FREE

Google Family Link

Good at: Supervising a child’s Android device and Chrome — app approvals, screen time, location.

Stops at: A child-account tool. You can’t point it at a parent’s house, and it does nothing about scam sites or texts aimed at adults.

The paid ones are closer.

Bark and Qustodio both do parts of this properly, and if you only need one child monitored on one phone, either is a reasonable buy. Aura covers adults as well as kids, but its parental controls and fraud monitoring are United States only, so an Australian household can't actually get them. The other two are built around children — install an app on each device, watch that child. None of the three has anything to say about your dad getting a text about an unpaid toll. Full comparison →

  • Scam signals tuned for older adults, not just for children

  • Australian-built, Australian-hosted, and support you can ring

We name what happened, what to do, in one sentence. The taniwha is awake so the household doesn't have to be anxious. We never say “next-gen AI-powered threat protection.”

06 / Before you ask

The five things
everyone asks.

Will it slow my internet down?

No. Manaia only handles the lookup that turns a name like your-bank.com.au into an address — a few milliseconds, from servers in Sydney and Melbourne. Your actual traffic never passes through us, so downloads, streaming and video calls run exactly as fast as they did before.

Can you see what I browse?

We see the domain names your devices look up — manaia.io, not the page you read or anything you typed. We never see the contents of a page, a message or a form. That history is what the reports are built from, it stays in Australia, it is kept for the period your plan lists and then deleted, and it is never sold. The full detail is in our privacy policy.

Does it work when we’re on mobile data?

Yes. The protection lives in the Manaia app on the device, so a phone or tablet stays covered on mobile data, at school, at a friend’s place — anywhere. The optional Home Lite appliance is the part that only covers your home network, because it works at the router.

What if it blocks something I actually need?

You allow it, from the app, and it works straight away. If it was a child’s device, they can ask for it from their phone and you approve or decline with one tap — no need to be in the same room, or the same city. Nothing stays blocked because you couldn’t work out how to unblock it.

How do I cancel?

From your dashboard, in a couple of taps — no phone call, no retention script. Monthly plans stop at the end of the cycle. Annual plans are refunded pro-rata. If you bundled a Home Lite device on instalments, the remaining balance on it falls due when the subscription ends.
